Countryside v2.0 by Diamante "X-tr3m3r" Pasotti

This is an improved version of my previous release.

The map features: HDR Soundscapes Color Correction Info_nodes for NPC support *Both the Buggy and the Jalopy

Changelog v2.0:

1)Enabled shadows to static props and used some Source 2007 specific commands for vrad in order to get good soft shadows. 2)Fixes on some props which were not spawning since they had to be set to dynamic. 3)Fixed some collision issues with some props. 4)Changed lighting in the tunnels. 5)Added wind generators. 6)Various fixes to displacements and extra smoothing on some spots. 7)Fixed some texture alignment issues. 8)Changed the bridge to a suspended one. 9)The water under the bridge does not kill you anymore. 10)Added a ladder on the side of the bridge so you can climb your way up if you fall in. 11)Enriched the soundscape script and added sound to the wind generators. 12)Added info_nodes so NPCs can work in Gmod. 13)Added some cliff models outside the map. 14)Added more detail like overlays, decals and props.

This map works in Gmod 10 as well. You can use it for posing and playing around with NPCs. It does not support multiplayer games since it only has one player spawn.

This map uses color correction so don't forget to enable it in your options panel in-game.

    Cant u just remove the EP2 props, and make them loaded from somewhere else, so only those can use it, who have that game. Or replace them with CSS ones.

    The only way would be to replace the textures and props with HL2 and CS:S ones but still the layout wouldn't work well with CS:S's gameplay. Offcourse, if you have any good ideas for the gameplay, please feel free to tell them and I might consider work on this map for CS:S.

    Pros: The map is fanstacily made and is very aesthetically pleasing. The use of HDR and color correction really compliment your ideas.

    My favourite bit has to be bridge, it's constructed very and addes to the enviroment.

    The tree's and mounside is a real tribute to the maps beauty and make up alot of its look which is great.

    The curved lanes are very nice and really have the rustic natural look.

    Great quality. The skybox is also a personal favourite. Cons: The first thing that jumped at me which was a concern was in screenshot one. The placement of the trees and wind turbines look generic and stationarily placed which doesn't fit very well to the realistc look. It's very "robotic".

    My second concern is with the tunnel. This looks quite basic and could benfit from things like signs and the lights would work better if they were overhead. Much more realistic that way. Also fans inside help to add to the realism.

    My last concern is which the bridge section, though beautiful i think the water isn't veyr deep and looks very closed up. Seems quite tiny and bridge looks to big for that section. Improvements:

    • Space out the line of bushes, trees and wind turbines for a more realistic look and add a fence to show the borders, like farmers land.

    • The tunnel could have warning signs to add to the realistic charm. As well as having lights on the cieling rather then the sites and change the color from orange to white/blue (mixture of both) orange tends to be used at night.
    • The bridge looks far to big for where it's place, i think that you should open it out more possibly have a flowing stream through their making the water deeper, this make the bridge seem less big and thus more useful for where it is.
    Notes: Very nice map, i love it and its aesthetically pleasing qualities.
